Who we are?Penrith Art Club started in 1960 when art teacher Eve Robson discussed forming an Art Club with her students.
Then the subscription was 5/-, with 2/6 for students and children. Eve was the art teacher at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, and many of our current members remember having been taught by her. The objective of the club was to meet for practical painting, with other interested leisure painters. |
The first exhibition staged by the club was in April 1962 at the Town Hall. Since then Penrith Art Club has held their Exhibition annually, most recently at The Parish Centre. However, due to the pandemic limiting all our activities, the 2020 exhibition was held virtually, with the establishment of a new website.
Today we have over 100 members and our door is always open to new faces. |
Our Committee
We are structured around the interests of our membership with a committee of seven elected members who have very clear roles, organising and implementing the wide range of activities which we cover.
In addition, the committee members have a responsibility to engage with our membership to meet their wishes and to look forward to ensure the longevity of our Club.
