A message from our Chairman
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Penrith Art Club. The club is open to all artists and anyone with an interest in art, even if they do not practice in art themselves.
The Club was formed in 1960 with the objective of “being for the encouragement and practice of art and for the holding of exhibitions” Whilst the activities of the Club have expanded greatly over the years, this remains our core objective. Our activities currently cover all 2D representations from the hardened ‘all seasons plein air’ painters to studio practice of life drawing and portraiture, textiles, printing, and all things in between. We are currently exploring the inclusion of 3D representations, sculpture, photography and film making and if there is the demand from members for the formation of such groups then we will extend the Club’s activities to encompass these. Live demonstrations and workshops are a large part of our learning experience open to members and non-members. At the same time the simple practice of sharing and discussing work between us is always rewarding and we are very keen to promote knowledge exchange between our members. Art appreciation is covered by our twice-yearly trips to local and national galleries. Through quarterly newsletters and regular updating of our new website we strive to stay connected with all members. There is also, always the opportunity to connect and discuss matters face to face at our monthly Club nights. A new Committee was formed in January 2024 at the Club AGM. Some of the Committee are new to Club members, but time will bring us together. New members are always welcome and the stunning location that we enjoy and the wealth of art practices around us, provide a fantastic footing to go forward together and gain everything that is offered from the wonderful world of Art.
