Elizabeth Acland
I started painting relatively late in Life, taking up the brushes when I was in my fifties; Watercolour paints were the only thing I had tried (never having had any official art classes) and I continue to enjoy this medium, nowadays adding inks, and pastels to the basic washes with which I start a work.
When to my surprise I began to sell my work, I pledged to send all my profits to the charity “Educate for Change” to whom I supply boarding and tuition fees for two Ugandan AIDS orphans. “My Girls” have now graduated from Secondary School, and I am pleased to say are currently in Further Education. In one more year they will be independent and useful members of their society. I will continue this charity starting over with two five year olds. I interviewed Lizzie last year if you would like to read more about Lizzie here is the link |
Taken together, these 5 paintings were all painted in the last year, and more or less between them represent my habitual obsessions: namely the North west Coast of County Donegal, Ireland; The Lake District; and my own flower garden.
