The online 2020 Exhibition is on its way!

​In February our Committee decided to suspend all art club activities due to the pandemic that had appeared on our shores the previous month. This didn't stop the members and other art club members from being creative. Many people across Britain decided to pick up a paint brush again, or for the first time, and create a piece of art. The great thing about art is that it doesn't discriminate. Art comes in many forms and is in the eye of the beholder. David Bowie the musician was also an artist and said “All art is unstable. It's meaning is not necessarily that implied by the Author. There is no authoritative voice. There is only multiple readings”.

Tirril Art Club on a Monday night continued painting as a group (but in their own homes) and later that evening or the following day sent a group email to show their painting progress. This has been fantastic for those who lacked a little inspiration or felt isolated. Do you belong an art group, what did they do to keep you inspired? Or, did you enjoy painting for the first time and want to join a group? I'm sure where ever you live in the country there is an art club not too far away in your town or at a Village hall. If there isn't why not see if anyone else is interested in your area and start a group.

With August fast approaching our Committee has made the bold decision to go ahead with the Annual Exhibition for 2020, bringing a little normality back to club proceedings. However instead of it happening at the Parish Centre in Penrith it is going to be held on line! With this in mind I'd like you to explore our new site dedicated to the Exhibition. The site currently showcases a small section of members work. On Saturday 8th August the 'Exhibition 2020' page will be refreshed and ready to view in it's entirety, showcasing works of art which you will be able to purchase.
